Hooray for Halloween!

Can you believe that today is Halloween and I am posting this? I know, it's a miracle. The kids had lots of fun trick-or-treating and just as much fun handing out candy. For once, the weather was great. Cora was a cat and you can't really tell by the pics but she has a tail too. The actual picture- taking was quite hilarious as we couldn't get Cora to stay sitting very long. The boys weren't much help either :)

Cutie-pie

I just had to post these pics of Cora. She was giggling at the movie. It was so cute!

Sam's Birthday

Sam had a pretty low-key 7th birthday this year. Max came over for cake and ice cream but the big present was a parakeet! We have been researching pets for a month and finally decided on a bird. Sam named him Arnie (don't ask me where he got that!) He is very sweet and quite tame. He loves to just sit on Sam's shoulder and we've only had him for a week! Did you know parakeets can live up to 14 years! Sam has been doing a great job taking care of him. Not quite the same as a dog but much easier to care for. We miss you Buddy!

Moab

Our trip to Moab was awesome! We stayed in the most amazing place called Moab Springs Ranch. The boys had a blast swimming, catching tadpoles, rafting, and hiking to see the arches. Thanks to Tony's Tours (aka: dad) for putting together an amazing family vacation/reunion! By the way, the tiny white dot sitting at the base of the arch is Sam. :) What a trooper!

Sshh... I'm eating.

What a multi-tasker! She can sleep while eating and keep her little hands folded in such a lady-like fashion!

Some Pics to Please

Here are a few pics of Cora. She is doing great! She has been rolling and weightbearing on her legs. She is holding her head up while eating and holds her own spoon. After some debate, we recently weaned her off one of her seizure meds. So far, it seems to be a good move. She is more alert and active. We are keeping very busy with 5 therapies a week and are currently in the process of getting some equipment for her. One of her favorite activities is getting in her jumperoo. She is getting really good at bouncing in that thing and she loves it. Never a dull moment around here!

Caped Crusader??

Owen is enjoying his fall break from preschool. He is doing great and is such a character. We are trying to break his new habit of saying “what the…”. I honestly don’t know where he picked that up. He doesn’t say anything after the “what the..”, just “what the..” and I’m like “what the… are you doing Owen?”. He doesn’t understand why we don’t want him to say it. Trying explaining that to a 4 ½ yr. old. It went something like this.
“Owen, don’t say that.”
“Why, is that a bad word?”
“No, but it’s not a nice thing to say.”
“Why? It’s not a bad word.”
“I know but…please, just don’t say it”
“Why?”
“Because I said so and every time you say it, you have to give me 50 cents, OK!!”
“O.K. Mom.”
What I wanted to say was “Because it’s what you say before you say a bad word and every time I hear you say it, I hear a bad word at the end of “what the…” in my own mind!!!”
Like he doesn’t think I’m crazy enough, so I think I’ll just leave it alone. It was pretty hilarious though.

Here We Go!

I have promised many people that I would blog and I guess the guilt is finally getting to me. Yes, I'm a little slow. Hopefully, this will be the first of many blogs. I have decided to only do this blog. Trying to update 2 blogs is just too much for me. Sadly, Cora's Corner will have to be put on the back burner. Babysteps, Alicia, babysteps.
